Leica SmartNet offers GNSS (GPS & GLONASS) across Ireland
Milton Keynes, UK – December 2008 - Leica Geosystems, manufacturer of world leading measuring and positioning equipment, announces that Leica SmartNet network RTK solution now offers full GNSS (GPS and GLONASS) coverage for the whole of Ireland. Both Leica i-MAX and MAX (RTCM 3.1 MAC standard) network RTK corrections offer the benefit of GLONASS across Ireland, for increased satellite availability and productivity. For end users this means a completely traceable and repeatable network RTK system, using the latest GNSS technology, which is referenced directly to the Ordnance Survey‘s national infrastructure.
To add GLONASS signals to their SmartNet data stream connection, customers will simply need to configure their existing GPS and GLONASS receiver. Reception of the GLONASS corrections is free to existing users.
SmartNet Ireland is enabled by a network of 19 OSI and OSNI base stations across Ireland. Powered exclusively by Leica GNSS Spider software, SmartNet Ireland is able to deliver corrections at centimetre level in RTK mode and provides RINEX data for post processing. Leica GNSS Spider is used by OSI and OSNI to quality assure and compute RTK corrections for their own surveyors, and sends raw data from all 19 stations for use in the Leica SmartNet commercial service.
Leica SmartNet is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week to anyone with any model of GPS receiver that can accept RTK corrections broadcast by GPRS, using industry standard RTCM formats.
